Date Thu. 08.10.2026 | Time 12:00 - 13:30 | Speaker Dr. Harald Desing |
Location Meeting Room B 52-5248 | Price | Calendar |
As climate tipping points approach, far more ambitious climate strategies are needed. In this seminar, Harald Desing will present a physics-based perspective on accelerating the build-up of renewable infrastructure, focusing on the dynamic availability of energy and materials. He will discuss the implications of these insights for managing sustainability transitions and why they call for thinking beyond traditional policy incentives.
The seminar will also introduce the concept of "mining the atmosphere"—transforming atmospheric CO₂ into carbon-dense, valuable materials that can be safely stored after use. This perspective highlights potential business opportunities as well as new policy challenges associated with large-scale carbon removal.
